Have you ever wanted to slow the computer down so you could play a game at a
reasonable speed? Isn't it frustrating to watch your game character bite the
dust 10 times in 2 seconds? Well, never fear -- SpeedBrake is here!
SpeedBrake is a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) utility that allows you to
slow down the speed of your computer any time you are in TEXT mode. To acti-
vate SpeedBrake, press CTRL-SHIFT-S. (NOTE: SpeedBrake cannot be accessed from
any graphics mode. If you need to slow down a program that runs in a graphics
mode, you must set the speed BEFORE running the program.)
SPEEDBRAKE KEY FUNCTIONS
UP-ARROW -- Moves the checkmark up
DOWN-ARROW -- Moves the checkmark down
ENTER -- Selects the item indicated by the checkmark
(except for first item)
LEFT-ARROW or HOME -- Moves thermometer left while on first item (faster)
RIGHT-ARROW or END -- Moves thermometer right while on first item (slower)
EXIT or ESC -- Exits the menu
If you want to change a hotkey, just select "Change HotKey," then press the
key with which you wish to replace the "S." For example, if you pressed the F1
key, the new HotKey would be CTRL-SHIFT-F1. (NOTE: You will always need to
hold down CTRL-SHIFT while pressing the HotKey to activate SpeedBrake.)
If you deactivate and exit SpeedBrake, you will be returned to your program to
the point at which you activated it. You may, of course, reactivate SpeedBrake
at any time by re-running it.
One more item. Many commercial programs may "lock-out" SpeedBrake's hotkey. We
suggest pre-setting the speed before executing commercial software. Even after
doing that, some commercial software will even lock-out SpeedBrake.
